About N8W8 R'dam
N8W8 R'dam is Rotterdam's independent night council. We advise the city on nightlife and night culture, support entrepreneurs and makers, and organise meetings and research to share knowledge and improve policy. We move at the intersection of culture, economy, safety, urban development and politics - always with an eye for the people who make and use the night.

The role
For our team, we are looking for a nightlife council member with expertise and a clear vision of urban development. In this role, you will actively contribute to the positioning of nightlife within spatial, policy and social issues in Rotterdam.

You will support the organisation of events and meetings aimed at knowledge sharing, advise night makers and entrepreneurs on their position within the city and conduct research on developments relevant to the night, such as area development, permits, liveability and policy frameworks.

What will you do?
- Conducting research on urban and policy developments
- Advising nightlife entrepreneurs, creators and organisations
- Participate in the organisation and content of events, panels and city talks
- Identifying and interpreting trends and issues at the interface of nightlife and urban development
- Thinking along and advising towards the municipality, politicians and other stakeholders
- Actively contribute to the content direction of N8W8 R'dam
 
Who are we looking for?
You are someone who:
- Affinity with urban development, spatial policy and/or area development
- Well acquainted with policy, political-administrative processes and the R'dam working field
- Knowing nightlife not only as a visitor, but also understanding it as an ecosystem
- Is analytically strong, but also practical and communicative
- Can work independently but feels comfortable in a small, driven team
- Available for 0.2 FTE (one fixed office day per week)
 
And equally important:
- You think critically and independently, even when it chafes
- You keep appointments and are reliable in planning and follow-up
- You put the interests of the city and the night ecosystem above personal profile, ego or your own agenda

To avoid conflicts of interest, we expressly do not seek candidates who:
- Being employed by the municipality (in service or as a structural contractor)
- Operating your own catering business in/around Rotterdam
- Being active as a festival organiser
